Parkmobile Partners with City of Wilmington to Introduce Mobile Parking Solution

The Parkmobile app will now allow customers to pay for parking using their mobile devices in the City of Wilmington

Wilmington, DE – October 25, 2017 -- Parkmobile LLC, and the City of Wilmington announced today a partnership that will allow customers to pay for parking at approximately 900 on-street single spaced meters using their mobile devices. Customers can pay for parking with their mobile devices using Parkmobile’s mobile application for iPhone, Android and Windows phones. Additionally, customers can use a Credit or Debit Card, Masterpass, PayPal, Visa Checkout, Chase Pay, Parkmobile Wallet, and coming soon - Apple Pay, to pay for parking.

“Parkmobile offers a convenient payment option that will improve the parking experience in downtown Wilmington,” said Mayor Purzycki. “This is an important step in modernizing our City’s on-street parking systems, which will in turn help attract customers to our shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and other businesses in and around the downtown corridor.”

The Parkmobile service also provides customers the ability to receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as view parking history. Additionally, enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices, so customers should not worry when the meter does not change. Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option and is intended to complement existing parking payment options. All existing forms of payment are still valid for use.

“This upgrade allows Wilmington residents, workers, and visitors to enjoy the same level of convenience they may have experienced at the Delaware beaches and in other cities,” continued Mayor Purzycki. “Customers will no longer need to worry about keeping coins on hand or running into stores to request change for the meters. On-street parking is one of the more common interactions that people have with the City of Wilmington, and we want to improve that experience.”
