Parkmobile Transforms Parking for Western Washington University with Mobile Payments Solution

June 23, 2016

Bellingham, WA – June 23, 2016— Parkmobile, LLC, the leading provider of on-demand and prepaid mobile payments for on- and off-street parking, and Western Washington University announced today its partnership to provide mobile payments for parking to the campus. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors will be able to use the app at many of the parking lots, which includes approximately 2,500 parking spaces. Customers can pay to park with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s app for iPhone, Android, Windows, Amazon, and Blackberry phones, or by calling the toll-free number on the green meter stickers and signs.

"Adding this functionality to our parking system will greatly increase the ability of our students, faculty, staff and visitors to more easily take care of their parking needs," said Western Washington University Chief of Police, Darren Rasmussen.

Parkmobile’s mobile payments system is very simple and easy to use. Customers first must register by downloading the mobile app in their phone’s app store or online at www.parkmobile.com. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet, or the toll-free number listed on signage to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. Mobile app users may also choose to receive alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to their parking session expiring.

“We are excited to launch our service at Western Washington University to give its students, faculty, and visitors a simpler, faster way to pay for parking,” said Jon Ziglar, CEO of Parkmobile, LLC. “Whether a user is out to dinner, in class, or studying on campus, our app makes parking a convenient, stress-free process.”

This Parkmobile service also provides customers the ability to receive alerts when their meter time is about to expire, extend their time remotely without returning to the meter, utilize credit cards in locations that do not offer manual credit card payments, as well as print and keep receipts for parking. Additionally, enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using their wireless handheld devices, so customers should not worry when the meter does not change. Parkmobile’s mobile payment solution is an added payment option and is intended to complement existing parking payment options. All existing forms of payment are still valid for use.

With the most widely used mobile parking solution in the country and 5 million people using Parkmobile’s services over 30 million times per year, Parkmobile is excited to make a difference leveraging our large network of users.
