Rice Village to Offer Parkmobile Parking Payment Solution

November 27, 2017

Parkmobile users who pay for City of Houston downtown parking meters from their smartphones can now use the technology in Rice Village District where storefront parking meters were installed earlier this year.
Current Parkmobile or ParkHouston app users can use their existing account to pay for their metered storefront Rice Village parking simply by entering the parking zone number listed on meter stickers and signs into the app. Registering for the app, which links payments to a credit or debit card, just takes minutes.
Individuals also can opt-in to receive reminders prior to their parking session is set to expire. Rather than return to their car, they can use the app to add more time right from their phone, if the meter maximum has not been reached.
Rice Village’s storefront meters can still be paid directly by credit or debit card with rates at $1 for the first hour, Monday – Thursday, and $2 for the first hour, Friday – Sunday.  Free parking for up to two hours remains available in Rice Village’s central parking garage and rooftop parking areas. When Rice Village District initiated its storefront metered parking, it also increased its free parking spaces by 36 percent.
The storefront meters are located in the area bordered by Kirby Drive, Morningside Drive, Rice Boulevard and University Boulevard.  They also will be installed on Amherst Street where several new tenants will open later this year amidst a completely transformed retail setting.
